Garden updates

[Photo: ささげAsparagas beans: 6-10 strings can be harvested daily] Our garden started slow this summer, but finally we are seeing results of our hard work! Starting from seeds required a lot more patients and time that I have imagined. Anyway, in the middle of 120+ page translation, going to the backyard and seeing them grow is quite a nice break. And of course, it adds some color and flavor to our dinner table, too!
Cucumbers and chocolate tomatoes on the trellis: cucumbers tremendously grew during our vacation. I am a bit afraid if cucumbers will take over tomatoes soon...旅行から戻ってきたら、きゅうりが急成長してました。1ヶ月前の写真June photos こちら。今年はピクルスでも作るかな。Chocolate cherry tomatos are getting ready, too. チョコレート・トマト。一番遅く植えたけど、ようやく実がなってきました。Nona tomato [a type of heirloom tomatoes], finally getting ripe 3月下旬に植えたノナ・トマト（伝統的なヘアルームトマトの一種）。ようやく赤くなってきました。まだらな色が特色です。Bundle of Nona tomatoes (regular tomato size)ここまでの道のみは本当に長かったけど、一つの苗に予想以上の量の実がついてます。Rainbow tomatoes. Very slender stalk compared to Nona or Chocolate　とても華奢な枝のレインボートマト。
Japanese eggplants grew from seeds which Temesgen had planted. More plump than store-bought Ichiban Japanese eggplant.　いつも植えるイチバンと呼ばれる日本のなすよりふっくらめ。
Japanese banana pepper　今年初挑戦のししとう。2種類植えて、ようやく実が成り始めてます。
Japanese basil (shiso)ようやく成功した青じそ。アメリカの大地がそうするのか、巨大な葉。昨日、提携農家からもらった日本なすを蒸したものに、裏庭育ちの青じそとモロヘイヤの千切り、そして同じく農家からもらったトマト（Heirloom Tomatoの一種）を散らして、即席適当ポン酢もどきをつくり、FetaCheeseをふりかけて一品。あー、夏だ!日本の夏の味だ！と隣でわめいている妻の横、エチオピア人の夫はちょっと引き気味でしたけど。ここにミョウガがあったら、最高だね。

夏休みの旅が終わった直後から久しぶりに大口（120ページほど）の翻訳を始めてまして、ブログの更新もちょっと怠っています。先週の第一締め切り直前は、背中・右ひじの不快感、コーヒー飲みすぎで胃の不快感。前回100ページ越した案件を了承したのは、リヤが生まれる前、同居してる頃だったかな。いや、体に少しガタが来てますね、着実に。今夜も少し、ヨガのビデオでストレッチし、明日はジムで汗をかこうと思います。みなさんもよい週末を！
