Spring Garden

Now that I have finished my dental presentation at annual symposium, I can sleep better and spend a bit more time in the garden!
See below for what is happening in our backyard.
Our 3-year-old Asparagus is always a surprise. You won't see anything the day before and find them 5-7 inches high in the morning. Asparagus is a perennial which comes back for 20+ years- a truly amazing plant.　3年前、日陰で水はけの悪い場所に植えられてしまったアスパラガス。逆境にも負けず、今年も芽を出しています。
After 3-4 years of trial, we were finally able to harvest some Cilantro this Spring! As temperature rises and sun gets strong, it will soon disappear but we love having you, Cilantro!大好きな香菜（スパイスのコリアンダーの葉で、パクチーとも呼ばれる）。今年ようやく収穫できるほどに成長しました。
3 years old Strawberries (perennial)いちごも春先、毎年戻ってきます。
Sugar snaps, which I put seeds the day before I left for San Diego, are growing well. Snap peas are also coming up nicely. これはさやえんどう。 Collard greens, which have been feeding us over the winter, are finally blooming. Wait a minute - don't leave us yet! We need you until other veggies can be harvested!　寒い時期は害虫による被害もないので、無農薬・手間もかからないカラード・グリーン。冬の間、繊維・ビタミン補給に重宝しました。
Broccoli is also growing well. I failed growing them 2-3 times, so I got seedlings from a local nursery in February. Hope to harvest some in a few weeks. ブロッコリも懲りずに再挑戦。
Komatuna (Japanese greens, similar to spinach)did well this winter. It is in the reproductive phase, so it will end life soon. We have had no luck with them in the summer due to bugs (remember Alabama is a bug heaven: flies, ladybugs, roaches, fleas, you name it. They love it here!), so we will see them again in the fall. 初冬に植えた小松菜もよく育ってたけど、春になって花が咲き始めたので終わりです。
This is another all-time favorite of mine: Arugula. I love the peppery taste of the leaves but also the flowers. Since it does not like summer heat, we will plant them again in the fall.そして香りが強いものが好きな私のお気に入り、アルグラ（ルッコラとも呼ばれる）。ブルーチーズ、スライスした梨と一緒にバゲットにはさめば、おフランスの雰囲気。可憐な花が咲いて、これももう終わりに近づいてます。種を集めて、秋にまた育てる予定。
