Florida Keys Part 1

[Kayak at Bahia Honda State Park: Florida Keys]I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday! Although our travel plan to Germany failed for this holiday season, Temesgen was able to spend some time in his favorite place, called "lab," and I was able to fix some long over-due stuff at home, which made me quite happy. Of 3 weeks, we spend 7 days traveling to Florida Keys (I dare not to travel to colder places in winter, except for Germany and Japan out of necessity!). It turned out to be a great trip with seeing my Hungarian friend in Miami (we did not see each other for 16 years!), learning ecology and nature, history of Cuba & the Key West, and a surprise bonus: Kennedy Space Center. I did not expect I would have this much fun during this trip but I surely did! I look forward to many more family trips to come.... hope the Girls will be able to swim more so that we can go snorkeling trip next time. 今年は大学の年末年始の休暇が3週間。はじめはドイツに行く予定が、先方のスケジュールと合わずに却下。テメスゲンの希望は「飛行機に乗らない場所に1週間ほど旅行、その前後は研究がしたい」。ということで、フロリダ州の最南端キーウエストまで7日間のドライブ旅行に行ってきました。Total mileage: 1771 miles 走行距離2833キロ。地図を見たい方はこちらをクリックをしてください。

[Temesgen & Misha pair going strong. Ours (Liya&me) not so much!]1時間のカヤックレンタル。終わりのほうに気がついたことは・・・カヤックの船尾を頭にして進んでたこと！どうりで、うまく先に進まなかったわけだ。

[John Pennecamp Coral Reef State Park]テメスゲンに子供達を頼んで、私は1時間ほど砂浜でお昼寝させていただきました。

[Glassboat trip to Coral Reef: feeding Cheetos to seagull (very bad choice feeding wildlife....)]まだシュノーケルができるほど子供達が泳げないので、グラスボート（船底がグラスになって海中が見える）にのってサンゴ礁を観にいきました。昔は沖縄や東南アジア、アフリカでスキューバもやったけど、今はシュノーケルかな。
