Projects for the Earth Day

We decided to participate one of the projects for the Earth Day, 2011, which is named Sacred Water 40/40 (click here). 今年はアースデイ（地球の日）を記念して、フェローシップで催されてる「セイクリッド・ウォーター（神聖な水）」というプロジェクトに参加することにした。水の節約、水の環境問題に取り組む等、40個ある案から自分でできることを選んで40日間実施するというもの。詳しくは上のHereをクリック。

Our pledge as family: 1) Post water-related photos or articles once a week on blog and 2)take a "trasure-trash hunt" walk once a week to collect plastics and recycables on the street/park/schools, etc.私たち家族の約束はブログに水関連の写真、話題を毎週載せること、そして1週間に1度、子供たちと一緒に宝探しと称して公共のスペースのゴミ拾いをすること。

Animals gather where water is available. There is often no running water for miles.牛やロバの水のみ場。

This is traditional pottery water "bottles" before people started using plastic yellow oil canisters for water storage.プラスチック製のボトルができる前、エチオピアで昔から使われてきた水桶。

蛇口をひねれば飲用水が出るなんて、ほんとに幸せなことだと思う。エチオピア滞在中は、ホテルでも水が出たり出なかったり。シャワーもあてにならず、水が出る間にバケツに水を貯めてそれをコップですくって用を足した。フィリピンやタンザニアの時もそうだったかな。熱いシャワーを浴びられるなんて、本当にありがたいことです。
